Sheltered housing is for people over 55. A sheltered home enables you to live independently in your own flat or bungalow with the additional benefit of communal facilities, such as a communal lounge (where provided), giving you the opportunity to mix with your neighbours, should you wish to do this. You may need pay a charge contributing to the hardwired alarms in the communal facilities, this is because your smoke detector is linked to the call centre so, if there is a fire you know help is on the way. You will need to set up a direct debit with us for this charge as it is not eligible for housing benefit or universal credit. The allocation of this property will be subject to a pre-tenancy assessment to ensure affordability.
